The rules
- ✔Every rank-and-file employee who worked at least one month in the year gets it, whatever the job, pay scheme or status.
- ✔It's one-twelfth of the basic salary you actually earned in the calendar year. Overtime, holiday pay, night differential and allowances aren't included, unless your company counts them.
- ✔Your employer must pay it on or before 24 December. Some pay half in June and half in December.
- ✔Resigned or let go during the year? You still get it pro rata, in your final pay.
- ✔It's not the same as a Christmas bonus: the 13th month pay is required by law.
Based on Presidential Decree 851. Rules last checked: October 2026. Not paid? Ask your employer in writing, then contact DOLE (hotline 1349). Not legal advice. 🔒 Everything stays on your device.
